Dawnsens New Materials (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. develops and builds its own Flash-Spun lines, with headquarters and production in Xiamen (China). According to its corporate documentation, it is the first Chinese manufacturer of this material on a commercial scale.
The material
What Flash-Spun material is.
A single resin and a single process, with no binders: a web of fibres, not a coating.
- 100% HDPEA single polymer, with no binders or lamination.
- 0.1–10 µmDiameter of the continuous fibres, according to the manufacturer.
Dawnsens® is made from 100% high-density polyethylene, drawn into very fine continuous fibres of 0.1 to 10 µm. The fibres are laid down at random and bonded by heat into a dense three-dimensional web. As a result, the material combines properties of paper, film and fabric.
Waterproof
Keeps out liquid water, wind and rain thanks to the density of the fibre web, with no coatings that could crack.
Breathable
Lets water vapour through: moisture escapes instead of condensing inside the pack.
High strength
High tensile and tear strength, and good puncture resistance during handling and transport.
Lightweight
Its low grammage makes handling, installation and transport easier.
Chemically inert
Resists acids, alkalis and most solvents, according to the manufacturer.
Recyclable
A single polymer, with no laminates or adhesives: it can be regranulated without separating layers. The M series holds a DIN CERTCO recyclability certificate.

Agriculture
Reflective mulch, fruit protection and sunshades.
- Diffuse reflection of light towards the lower canopy (D702 mulch)
- Fruit protection bag (D503) and individual sunshade (D701)
- Weed control: the mulch blocks light under the film
- Water-resistant and air-permeable. Agronomic performance subject to local validation
Labels and wristbands
A printing surface that resists water and tearing.
- Compatible with flexography, gravure, digital (HP Indigo, inkjet), screen printing, offset and thermal transfer, according to the manufacturer
- Light and flexible without losing strength

Medical packaging
Material for sterile barrier systems (M series).
- Compatible with EtO, gamma, electron beam, H₂O₂ plasma and steam (121 °C) sterilisation, according to the manufacturer
- Microbial barrier and breathability for terminally sterilised and sterile transfer packaging

Desiccant packaging
Breathable substrate for desiccant sachets and strips.
- Highly breathable: moisture reaches the desiccant quickly
- Strong and leak-tight: holds the contents and keeps the sachet from breaking
- Very low fibre shedding inside the pack
- Resistant to chemicals and solvents; does not encourage mould, according to the manufacturer
